How Pokémon GO showcase points work

And why PokeSize shows you a size ratio instead of a point score: the number would be made up, and a made-up number is worse than an admitted unknown.

Showcase scoring: height, weight and IV

The game’s own contest settings give a Showcase entry 800 points for height, 150 for weight and 50 for IVs, measured against the species’ base size rather than in absolute metres — a big Joltik and a big Wailord compete on the same scale. Those three coefficients are not community guesswork; they are in the game data.

Is there an XXL bonus?

Yes. Those three weights add up to 1000, yet a verified XXL entry has scored 1084 in a general biggest-size showcase. That proves an XXL bonus exists, even though the game does not publish how large it is. The widely repeated 1178 maximum may be right, but it has not been verified.

What is missing

How a size becomes the 0–1 that those coefficients multiply. That curve is not in the game data and cannot be derived from a screenshot. It was tested against real in-game points read off entry-list and showcase screens: no height + weight + IV formula tried so far reproduces them, with gaps well beyond the 50 points an unknown IV can account for. So every site that shows you a predicted score is showing you a guess about that curve, presented as a measurement.

Size ratio vs showcase points

The size ratio is your Pokémon’s height divided by its species’ base height: 1.00× is dead average, 1.50× is the XXL line. Height is about 80% of the score and the scale is per species, so ranking your collection by this ratio gives the same order as the real points under any sensible curve. PokeSize shows two things that are sound, and one that belongs to the game:

Two Pokémon it cannot rank at all

Pumpkaboo and Gourgeist come in four size forms with different base heights, and the detail screen never says which one you caught. There is no honest single ratio for them, so they are shown as a range across the candidate forms and ranked on the cautious end. A site that prints one number for a Pumpkaboo has picked a form for you without telling you.

When readings are wrong

A screenshot reader gets things wrong, and pretending otherwise is the same mistake as inventing a score. Every entry carries how confident the reader was and what looked odd: a nickname hiding the species, a weight that does not match the height (usually the wrong species), a size badge that disagrees with the measured ratio. Those rows are marked, not hidden.

Frequently asked questions

Does PokeSize predict my points? No. It ranks your Pokémon by size ratio and tier, and shows the game’s own points only where you have uploaded a showcase screen that prints them.

What is the maximum showcase score? Unknown. The coefficients add up to 1000, a real XXL entry has scored 1084, and the often-quoted 1178 has not been verified.

What counts as XXL? 1.50× the species’ base height or more. XL starts at 1.25×.
